Respectful of the existing fabric, this heritage re-use project blends classic exterior forms and detailing with a pared back interior.
Serene, light filled interior spaces utilise translucent ceilings and skylighting whilst selectively exposed portions of the original structure invoke reflection of a bygone era. Full structural strengthening completes the makeover of this circa 1890’s Category 2 listed building and ensures its ongoing contribution to the local historic streetscape.
This project was the recipient of the NZIA Resene Local Award, in the Community and Cultural and the Resene Colour categories in 2007.
