Why work at dla

We here at dla thrive in a family culture thick with vibrancy and creativity. Our projects are as diverse as our people, and we enjoy a collaborative environment with continual support from the 5 offices we have throughout New Zealand.

A sense of humour, and not taking ourselves too seriously is characteristic of our day to day. So is respecting people and consistently commiting to doing a great job for our clients.

Many of our clients we know very well, as we’ve worked with them again and again over the years. They come back because they get what they need, and we really enjoy working together.

Good people

Our team is talented technically, and we also have a good feel for people. We value proactive communication, being tolerant, supportive and empathetic towards others, and we’re good at collaborating.

We are at different stages of life and from a variety of backgrounds, and we love to get together as a nationwide team from time to time.

We are recognised specialists

For our team, the beauty of dla is that we don’t have to do or be one thing.  As recognised industry specialists in vet clinics, public hospitals, education facilities, food processing and car dealerships, we get exposed to all facets of architecture. With projects across the country of multiple scale, complexity and type, we have opportunities to work on a wide range of designs and builds, and you are not pigeon-holed into any one thing.

Ongoing learning

We actively encourage ongoing learning and have systems and career pathways to support each person’s professional growth.

Our Directors are closely involved across all our projects, to support quality and consistency, and there are multiple opportunities to learn from senior people who share their in-depth knowledge and expertise.
