Ian Helliwell

Senior Registered Architect

Qualification: BA(Hons)Arch Plymouth, Dip Arch PSW RIBA

Ian is originally from Yorkshire and has over 30-years construction experience in New Zealand and the UK. He has worked for a number of leading UK practices and takes a leading role in our Wellington office, where he has been part of the team for over 12 years.

Ian has a wealth of experience in a range of sectors and project types and is equally at home designing, sketching, and promoting the use of sustainable practices, as he is working on building detailing and documentation.

Ian really enjoys collaborating with consultants and contractors to deliver exactly what clients are hoping for. Seeing an early design come to life and evolve on site is something Ian relishes most as an architect.

Specialising in architectural management and project delivery Ian has extensive sector experience in tertiary education, defence, dairy, as well as commercial office fitouts, residential, and ecclesiastical architecture. He is particularly proud of his involvement in the design and delivery of Our Lady of Kapiti Church which was recently recognised in the regional architecture awards.

An avid cyclist both on road and off road, Ian is always looking to build up another bike for his collection. At the weekends you’ll often find him with his sleeves rolled up building or landscaping at his new house, with the same level of dedication and enthusiasm he applies to every one of his projects.
